A third generation Washingtonian, Dr. Elliott attended the Holton-Arms School and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. She completed undergraduate studies at Bucknell University. She earned M.S. (Biochemistry) and M.D. degrees at George Washington University, where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society and valedictorian of the medical school class of 1976. Leaving the East Coast, Dr. Elliott completed her internship and residency at the University of Oregon (UOHSC). During training she did basic research in immunologic aspects of atopic eczema and in the effects of retinoids on skin disease. She won awards from The Society for Investigative Dermatology and won the UOHSC Alumni Award for these studies. She is board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Elliott began clinical practice in Marin County, California while continuing to participate actively in research on retinoid chemistry at the University of California-San Francisco as a clinical instructor in dermatology.
Growing tired of sunshine and good weather, Dr. Elliott returned to Washington D.C. in 1990 where she continued to practice, at the Center for Laser Surgery. Dr. Elliott is an Associate Clinical Professor of dermatology at George Washington University. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine, and the Leaders Society of the Dermatology Foundation. She is listed as Best Dermatologist and Best Cosmetic Dermatologist by Washingtonian Magazine as well as Best Doctors in America.
Her areas of special interest include skin cancer detection and treatment, immunologic treatments of skin disease, adolescent medicine, laser therapy of skin diseases as well as general and cosmetic dermatology.
